The following Standards apply to all green and trained dogs purchased from KWD .
Standards:
The canine has been tested by German Police dog standards. X-rays of hips and elbows are provided to assure the soundness of the joints. A complete medical examination has been performed, checking, gait, skin, coat, teeth, heart and found clear of intestinal parasites. Immunizations have been given within the last 12 months.
The KWD Police K9 Prospect has been selected for attitude and behavior and evaluated for the following:
- Must be generally alert, active, outgoing, curious and confident.
- Must display basic socialization and tolerance to people.
- Has been tested for confidence in nighttime situations as well as inside and outside of buildings.
- Will be observed on different types of floor surfaces, and stairs.
- Will be evaluated for gunfire confidence.
- A Defense Test assesses the KWD Police K9 Prospect’s drive to fight for it self or handler when faced with threat. The dog must bite when approached in a threatening manner without any training equipment on attacker in order to evaluate his natural behavior.
KWD offers training Workshops and Boot Camps for K9 Handlers/K9 Units.
